Recently, Apple held a new product launch event. In addition to the new iPhone 14 series, it also brought new products such as AirPods and Apple Watch series. In related product areas, Apple has always had a good performance. With the successive entry of various manufacturers, the corresponding market competition is also becoming more intense. Now, with the official end of the second quarter, related market research reports have appeared one after another. Research firm Canalys recently released two related reports, namely the second quarter 2022 global wearable wristband device shipment report and the second 2022 global smart personal audio device shipment report. The report mentioned that global shipments of wearable wristband devices increased by 2.0% in the second quarter of 2022 to 41.7 million units, returning to growth after a 3.7% decline in the first quarter. Basic watches and smart watches grew by 46.6% and 9.3%, respectively. In terms of specific share performance, Apple continues to dominate the global watch market with a market share of more than 26%. Although compared with the 31.1% share in the same period last year, the share of shipments has increased, reaching 6% year-on-year. Samsung followed closely, ranking second, with a share of 8.9%, exceeding 7% in the same period last year, and shipment growth reached 58%. Huawei ranks among the top three, with a market share similar to that of Samsung, reaching 8.3%. Although it is lower than last year's 9% share, its shipments increased by 14% year-on-year. Meanwhile, another report showed that global shipments of smart personal audio devices fell 1.7% year-on-year to 98.1 million units in the second quarter of 2022. TWS was the only smart personal audio device category to grow, growing 8% to 63 million units. However, despite the increase in shipments, the global TWS market value fell 2.9%. In terms of specific rankings, Apple continues to lead the global TWS market with a share of more than 27%. While shipments of the AirPods TWS series slowed to 15.3 million units, improved performance from its audio sub-brand helped it achieve overall 13.1% shipment growth in the second quarter. Samsung ranked second with a market share of 9.3%, up from 8.8% in the same period last year, and shipment growth reached 13%. Xiaomi ranks among the top three, with a market share of 5.3%, down from 9.1% in the same period last year, and shipments decreased by 38% year-on-year. On the whole, whether it is a wearable wristband device or a smart personal audio device, the overall market performance has changed.
