Apple's iOS 16 fast security response can use security patches faster, and users can also delete them manually

IT House reported on September 13 that Apple introduced the Rapid Security Response feature in the iOS 16 system, allowing faster deployment of security patch updates through non-complete iOS updates. Rapid Security Response updates are installed automatically by default, but Apple allows users to remove them manually. In an updated support document shared by Apple today, the company said users can remove the Rapid Security Response update by going to Settings > General > About, selecting the iOS version, and then selecting Remove. Users can reinstall the Rapid Security Response update at a later date, or wait for it to be installed permanently as part of a standard software update, Apple said. It's unclear why the Rapid Security Response update needed to be removed, but it's good that users have that option. IT House learned that Apple also provides a toggle key to turn off the automatic installation of Quick Security Response, so that updates can be downloaded and installed manually.
