IT House September 4 news, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer joined businesses, state local officials and hundreds of others today at the Bay City (Bay City) SK Siltron CSS semiconductor fab opening ceremony to celebrate semiconductor wafers Ribbon-cutting of manufacturer SK Siltron CSS's new manufacturing facility in Bay City. The company's $300 million investment strengthens SK Siltron's commitment to Michigan and further advances Michigan's leadership in the national semiconductor supply chain. Headquartered in Bay City, SK Siltron CSS announced in August 2021 that it plans to expand production of silicon carbide wafers that represent the future of the industry. According to reports, the project is supported by a $1.5 million grant from the Michigan Business Development Program and is expected to create 150 jobs. To date, the company has hired more than 100 people for new positions. The Governor stated, "SK Siltron makes products that are the cornerstones of countless products and industries: electric vehicles, solar panels, smartphones, and more.
