A montage is often used when the writer wants to show passage of time through a series of quick scenes. Usually the character or characters in the scene are preparing for something in the future, such as Rocky working out in preparation for his big fight.
Rambo also comes to mind. Before heading off to kill hordes of bad guys he could always be seen strapping on his belt of bullets, sheathing his hunting knife, and tying his bandana around his head. Not a montage where much time passes, but a montage nonetheless...(read full article)

Script Toolbox Client Lands Movie Deal!
Recently Matt, a client of mine, emailed me with the good news: his horror script has been optioned, and film legend John Landis (Blues Brothers, Animal House, An American Werewolf in London) is attached to direct!
"(Without the help of ScriptToolbox.com) I wouldn't have been able to hone my scripts the way I did," says Matt. He goes on to say that Landis' choosing to work with a no name writer was "due to the strength of the script and nothing more."
"I'm serious in saying I COULD NOT have done any of this without you and yours."
Well, congratulations, Matt. You have a bright future ahead of you in screenwriting.
For more on Matt's success, check out the Variety.com article that mentions his screenplay, The Bone Orchard.
Every year hundreds of thousands of screenplays are
written and submitted to production studios and agencies
all over the country and the world.
Of those, only about
400 are produced with wide release.
Many of those produced
were written by seasoned writers who have already proven
that they can write compelling stories audiences will
pay to see. Regrettably, that leaves little room for new screenwriting
talent.
If you want your script to have a chance, you better
make sure it stands out among the piles of scripts around
it.
Let ScriptToolbox put your script to
the test. Only about 5% of scripts are good enough
to get past the Hollywood script reader. I can tell
you if your script is among the best before you
submit it to the big boys.
You only get one chance. Approach it wisely.
Scripttoolbox.com gives you the advance notice and the guidance to make any changes, if its not up to par. I give you the tips you
need to take your vision to the next level.
Finally, when it
is a good script, with your permission, I can submit
it to the agencies and studios with whom I have a relationship.
Success in Hollywood is still very much about who you
know. However, EVERY script submitted through my service
will be kept completely confidential until such permission
is granted.
